Quality objectives

Quality objectives are established by management, reviewed annually and monitored through management reviews.

Customer satisfaction

Monitored through customer feedback, complaint trends and customer scorecards.

Product conformity

Zero-PPM culture: reduction of in-process rejection and of customer-reported defects towards zero defects at the customer receiving point.

On-time delivery

Adherence to committed delivery schedules through production planning and capacity control.

Competence

Documented skill matrices, on-the-job training and periodic competency evaluation for all operators.

Quality management system

The QMS follows a process approach in which each stage has defined inputs, controls, records and responsibilities.

  1. Contract & design reviewReview of requirements, feasibility and design for manufacture.
  2. ProcurementPurchase from approved suppliers against defined specifications.
  3. Incoming inspectionVerification of materials and components before release.
  4. Element printingConductive plastic resistive elements printed and cured in a Class 10,000 cleanroom.
  5. AssemblyControlled winding and assembly processes with in-process inspection.
  6. Final inspection & testElectrical and functional testing of each production batch.
  7. Dispatch & feedbackPacking, documentation and customer feedback review.

Inspection

Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

Raw materials and bought-out components are inspected against drawings and specifications before release to stores. Supplier certificates of conformance are verified.

In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)

Stage-wise inspection is performed at critical process steps, including element printing and curing, winding and assembly, so that deviations are detected at source.

Outgoing Quality Control (OQC)

Insulation, dielectric and linearity checks are carried out on every production batch before packing. Inspection records are maintained against the batch number.

First Article Inspection (FAI)

New parts and engineering changes are subject to first article inspection prior to series production. FAI reports are supplied where specified by the customer.

Testing facilities

In-house facilities for verification of electrical, environmental and endurance performance.

Class 10,000 cleanroom

Conductive plastic thick-film resistive elements are printed and cured in a controlled cleanroom. The conductive plastic technology was developed in-house.

Life test at room temperature

Automatic test rigs verify rotational life for millions of cycles, with continuous monitoring, cycle counting and multiple parts tested at a time.

Thermal shock

−70 °C to +200 °C thermal shock with automatic transfer within 3 seconds, adjustable soak time and a pre-set number of shocks.

Environment chamber

−40 °C to +150 °C temperature cycling with variable gradient, combined with up to 100% humidity and life testing, and noise capture over the life cycle.

Dither test

Dither of ±0.5° / ±2.5° superimposed to simulate engine vibration, typically up to 100 million cycles.

High voltage and electrical tests

Testing up to 1500 V DC, insulation tests from 50 V DC to 500 V DC, high-resolution linearity measurement, and high-temperature storage ovens up to 140 °C.

Traceability and process control

Traceability

Products are traceable from raw material to dispatch: each batch is linked to its material lots, process records and inspection results.

Calibration

Measuring and test equipment is calibrated at defined intervals against standards traceable to national standards, and is identified with its calibration status.

Records

Inspection, test and batch records are retained in accordance with QMS, customer and contractual requirements.

Corrective action and continual improvement

Customer complaints

  • Acknowledgement of the complaint and containment of suspect stock
  • Root cause analysis using the 8D methodology
  • Corrective and preventive action on process or design
  • Verification of effectiveness and issue of the 8D report to the customer

Continual improvement

  • Scheduled internal audits of all QMS processes
  • Management review of quality objectives and performance indicators
  • 5S and Kaizen practices on the shop floor
  • Supplier performance monitoring and development
